"As you go through life, your pool fills; and when it's full, the music and lyrics create themselves. When the pool empties, you have to let life refill it with day-to-day experiences." Mike performed his first song, "This Land is Your Land" by Woody Guthrie, on a 3/4-scale guitar when he was four years. Throughout high school, he performed with a variety of bands, dabbling into a plethora of music genres, including punk, country and blue grass. While guitar and vocals are his forte, he also plays bass, drums and other stringed instruments. Since 2008, Mike Frank & Friends has built a solid, local fan base while performing songs from their first album, Yellow Rays, in the tri-state area. We want to come together to make a statement that every person deserves to feel safe and happy, and that bullying will not be tolerated. Occurring simultaneously with the 5-mile race and fun run will be a host of family-inclusive activities that promote respect and healthy self-esteem. Doylestown's School of Rock will provide live entertainment. Proceeds from the run benefit NOVA's Prevention Education initiatives, which deliver school-age programs on bullying prevention and intervention in local schools. For more than two decades, NOVA has focused a large part of its violence prevention education, workshops, assertiveness training, counseling, advocacy, referrals and support toward putting a halt to bullying and helping bullying victims heal. In order to end bullying, we believe an entire community must work together to develop a solution, says Mundy. By uniting, engaging and educating teachers, parents, students and professionals in the community to prevent bullying, we are making an impact. The National Education Association reports that about 160,000 children miss school every day because they are afraid of being bullied, 71 percent of students report incidents of bullying as a problem at their school, and 43 percent of youth report that they have experienced some form of cyber bullying in the last year.
